Samui is not Pattaya or Phuket and those seeking the "full on" Thai gay experiences may be better going elsewhere. However there are plenty of gay people living on Samui, both expats and Thai nationals. People here are more relaxed and friendly and the scene is growing all the time. There are 3 or 4 nice gay bars and the gay run cabaret shows are great fun.

Gay Koh Samui Yahoo Group

Outside OP Bungalows, North Chaweng
The flat beach here is perfect for volleyball which is the national sport of all respectable Thai boys and lady boys. Late afternoons can be fun to watch them play.

West Coast, Taling Ngam Beach
Approx. 30 km drive from Chaweng on the west coast. Lovely for late afternoon sunsets. Very quiet and remote spot. Take refreshments with you.

Samui Gay Soi

Three of Samui's best gay venues are now located on the same Soi (Thai name for small street). This is a small walking only street 100 yards north of the entrance to Centara Grand Beach Resort, one of the biggest hotels in Chaweng. This is at the south end of Chaweng Beach Road.  Two are bars/night clubs listed below, one is a massage parlour listed on next page.

Male Box
Exciting midnight show, unique entertainment.  Gets busy after midnight but a great place to hang out any time for drinks.

Boy Zone
Opposite Male Box. Nice outside seating area to relax and watch the world go by. Fun boy dancing show most nights at 11 pm.

K-Club
Small bar on small street behind Starbucks at the north end of Chaweng Beach Road. A bit sleezy but great for early evening drink before the cabaret shows start nearby.
